Para Ice Hockey | Every Body Moves

Para Ice Hockey is fast, furious, and aggressive. It is a team sport and is a great way to make friends and socialise as well as helping build fitness and strength.

It is a variant of ice hockey and can be played on or off ice using sledges that allow players to move around the rink propelled by two sticks that are also used for shooting and passing.

Sledge hockey is a fully inclusive sport and can be played by participants with a range of disabilities. It is a full contact sport and, as well as being a social sport, there are also teams located around the UK and a league which runs from April until August each year – though teams practice all year round.

But if you don’t want to play competitively then not to worry, you can still train and play games for fitness and fun.

Things you might need to get started

  • Because of the physical nature of the sport all players are required to wear a helmet with a full cage or mask. Players are also encouraged to wear protective padding.
  • Each player also needs a sledge and two sticks.
  • For more information about equipment contact your local club or GB Para Ice Hockey.
