Sheffield Steelkings Para Ice Hockey Club | Every Body Moves

Sheffield Steelkings Para Ice Hockey Club

Overview

The Sheffield Steelkings Para Ice Hockey Club offers sporting opportunities to people with a lower body disability or impairment to take part in a highly skilled, fast paced, physically demanding team sport.

We have both male and female members at the Steelkings with a range of disabilities including, amputations, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, paraplegia and PTSD.

To play the sport of para ice hockey, players sit in metal sledge that have two skate blades underneath and they move around the ice (and handle a puck) by using two para ice hockey sticks that have metal picks on one end.

When our players get onto the ice, all of their daily struggles are forgotten. They get the freedom to fly around the ice and their disability or impairment doesn't hold them back.

Para ice hockey improves the physical and mental wellness of our members every time they get on the ice and our mission is to now get as many people playing the sport as we possibly can.

It's a tough sport but full of great people and if you think you have what it takes, we hope to hear from you!

(You can find the Sheffield Steelkings on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube if you require more information about the sort and the team).
