Overview

Boccia is a ball game specifically designed to be played by people who are disabled. It is played on a court of a similar size to one that is used for badminton. It can be played as individuals, pairs or in teams of three. Each person or team throws 6 balls which are either red or blue at a white jack ball in a similar fashion to bowls or boules with the team with the most accumulated points at the end of the match being the winner. The balls are about the size of a baseball but are softer in composition. At the highest level the game resembles chess with balls and is a Paralympic sport. Paul’s Place have teams in the Super League, which is the equivalent to the Premiership in Football as well as many of the people we support just playing for fun. Boccia England have recently issued guidance to allow Boccia to recommence as we ease out of the latest Covid-19 lockdown and we are excited to resume this sport and would welcome new members to our weekly sessions. Please do get in touch for more information.
