Overview
The Andrew Simpson Foundation was inspired by Olympic Gold and Silver medalist Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson MBE. Our core purpose is to transform lives through sailing.
Aiming High is a sailing and watersports programme which supports young people living with a learning and/or physical disability. The programme also focuses on young people’s mental health, using sailing and watersports to boost young people’s sense of self-worth and help them manage their emotions.
On average, each young person will attend 6 Aiming High sessions. The programme structure varies depending on the needs of the young people. A typical programme may include:
• Taster sessions
• Coaching in sailing and watersports
• An introduction to mindfulness
• Young people working towards RYA National Sailing Scheme or RYA Sailability qualifications
Our highly skilled and experienced staff work alongside parents and teachers to ensure the programme is accessible to the young people and enables them to develop self-confidence and resilience.
