Interview Transcript

Q How did you get into your sport?
A
Well, I think it was just accidently, one day my friend rung me up and asked me if I wanted to take part in distance clubs. So I thought I'd give it a go and at the same time Lille was on - I think the championships I think it was in 2000 and something and I was watching Stephen Miller, I thought well I could give that a go and probably could take it all the way. So that's how I got into it.

Q What do you enjoy most about it?
A
I think just competing and being around the people that I'm around and it gets my mind focused and just helps me out really in everyday life, generally.

Q What does a typical day training or competing for you involve?
A
Getting myself focused sometimes I don't even think about it it's just a normal routine for me really, it's like any other day really.

Q How do you relax when you are not competing or training?
A
Write my own poetry, write my own lyrics to songs. I like music - I used to be in a band, I do things like that.

Q What do you hope to achieve in your sport in the future?
A I
want to be the best, that's it, the best and only the best!

Q What advice would you give to somebody wanting to take up your sport?
A
Know yourself inside out, just you know limits - don't let there be any limits on yourself, push yourself as far as possible and just have a good frame of mind - and that's it really.
