Parasport awarded London2012 Inspire mark.

Fri 23rd October 09

Parasport, ParalympicsGB’s joint initiative with Deloitte designed to signpost people with a disability to sporting opportunities, has been granted London 2012’s ‘Inspire Mark’.

The Inspire Mark recognises outstanding projects that will help deliver a lasting legacy for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Only projects and events that can prove they are innovative, well-planned and managed, and are inspiring are recognised by the scheme.

ParalympicsGB Chief Executive Phil Lane said: “We are delighted that Parasport has been recognised in this way. With the backing of Deloitte we have worked hard to ensure that Parasport is providing the best quality of information possible to signpost people with a disability into sport.”

Parasport was launched in 2007 and since then has helped hundreds of people with a disability find sporting opportunities in their area.

The Inspire programme, which awards the Mark, is a scheme run by London 2012 and incorporates projects across the sport, culture, education, environment, volunteering and business sectors.
