Visual Impairment

There are three classification levels for Visual Impairment:

  • B1 - blind
  • B2 - partially sighted
  • B3 - visually impaired

The technical description of each classification is as follows

  • B1 - inability to recognise form of hand in any direction of distance.
  • B2 - ability to recognise shape of a hand to a visual acuity of 2/60 and/or a visual field of <5 deg
  • B3 - a visual acuity of >2/60 up to 6/60 and/or a visual field of >5 deg and <20 deg
